What is the Donegal Local Action Plan?
The ACRES Co-operation programme is aimed at helping to address biodiversity decline while delivering an income support for up to 50,000 farm families in Ireland. In order to achieve the aims of the programme, the Donegal Co-operation team have developed a Local Action Plan for the Co-operation area of Co. Donegal.
The Donegal Local Action Plan (LAP) details the approach that the CP team will take to address environmental issues impacted by agriculture in the county. This plan has been developed after a thorough review of ‘assets’ in Donegal. These assets are species that need support to survive and thrive, habitats that are of high value (such as upland peatlands) or need help to recover and pristine rivers and lakes that need to be protected from pollution. In addition the team has reviewed the threats and pressures posed by climate change and how the agricultural sector could help. Funding for Non-Productive Investments (NPIs) and Landscape Actions (LAs) will be prioritised for actions that contribute to the delivery of the objectives and targets of the Local Action Plan.
The Donegal Co-operation area has been divided into 7 sub-regions. An action plan for each sub-region has been developed and can be downloaded from this page.
The full version of the Donegal LAP will be available here in the coming weeks.
