FARMER INFORMATION EVENINGS 2024

The ACRES Co-operation team for County Donegal are delighted to announce details of their upcoming events that aim to engage with CP farmers in the region. The team will provide an update on the issues arising from the 2023 scoring season such as scoring and payments for those scores. Farmers will have the chance to register their interest in one-to-one appointments with an ACRES staff member. The key focus of the evening will be on Non-Productive Investments as the window for these is open until Oct 31st.

ACRES Donegal Programme Manager, Henry O’ Donnell explains “Engaging with our farmers is a priority for the CP team in the coming months. We understand the great need for farmers to be made aware of how the scheme is performing for them as individuals and how the scheme can work better for them in the future. These events will allow farmers to gain insight into how they can decide on further actions on their farm and how the ACRES programme can support them in the implementation of these actions for the benefit of their farming enterprise and, of course, for the benefit of the environment”.

Henry explains that recent commonage clinics run by the CP team in the south of the county have been an enormous success, “Farmers are keen to learn more about ACRES. We had a positive response from those who attended the clinics. Clear lines of communication between our team and the farmers are just as important to us, as they are to the farmers themselves.  Keeping farmers informed is our key takeaway from the clinics. That’s why we are encouraging as many farmers as possible to join us over the coming weeks ”.

The events will take place in a number of locations during September and October. We will be sending out text messages to our ACRES participating farmers when an event is happening in their area. The ACRES programme is co-funded by the European Union and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
